April 25, 2008

Spring came fast! The cherries and peaches are in bloom already and the apples are close behind. A lot is happening here as we try to keep up with this warm weather.

The parts of the orchard are getting a "makeover" as we plant replace damaged trees and plant more trees of the varieties people prefer.

Yesterday the first grapevine was planted. Dressels hasn't had grapevines in over ten years. So I am told that we will be able to offer our customers our own table grapes in three years.

The ice cream shop will open on Sunday, May 11 (Mother's Day). We will offer our regular soft serve and hard ice cream. New this year-soft-serve yogurt! And to help celebrate our opening, Segway demonstrations will take place free of charge from noon to 3pm.

Apples and cider are still available at the Farm Market located at the warehouse.

As always, you can call us at the farm at (845) 255-0693.

Mid-April 2008

Wow! It's already mid-April. The trees are starting to show signs of Spring. Pruning is nearly complete. We are moving onto planting and mowing.

Fields are being prepared for planting. Older trees are being replaced with new ones. This week our grapevines arrived!

There are two hens sitting on nests and we are keeping our fingers crossed the eggs will hatch.

The farm market is still open for business with apples and cider. You will find us at the warehouse for another month or so. The Market by the road will open in early June when the strawberries are ready to pick. More information to come as we get closer to June.

Ice Cream time is right around the corner. We will open on Sunday, May 11 for our 6th season. New this year will be soft-serve yogurt.

As always, if you have any questions you can email us at debdressel@aol.com or call the farm at (845) 255-0693.
